MSB Mission Statement, Vision and Values

MSB AC has a mission to support and develop as best we can athletes of all ages and abilities across all disciplines within our sport. Our aim being to contribute positively to increasing physical activity levels and to developing athletes to perform to the best of their ability at local, national and international level.

Metro St. Brigid's Athletic Club

Metro St. Brigid's Athletics Club (MSB AC) is a community-focused athletics club steeped in almost a century of rich history. MSB was formed through the merging of two successful Dublin athletic clubs in 1993, Metropolitan Harriers and St. Brigid's AC. In the 30 years since our merger as MSB, we have grown from strength to strength. Currently we have over 500 members with thriving juvenile, junior, senior and masters’ sections.

MSB AC is built on strong core principles of serving the athletics needs of the local area by helping all members reach their athletic potential through active participation in athletic activities. We achieve this through supportive and welcoming training environments made possible by our team of dedicated, voluntary coaches. We welcome athletes of all abilities and embrace members of all ages from 8 to 80 and beyond.

We are proud of our rich heritage in athletics and excited for our future as we begin a new chapter with the opening of our new state-of-the-art track facility in our home at the Porterstown Recreational Hub.

Juvenile Athletics Ages 8 – 19 Years

At MSB our younger juvenile training groups are broadly based on a child’s approximate age in order to promote not only age-appropriate athletic development but also to nurture friendships and bonding with other kids of their own age. We take a multi-event approach and encourage kids to try everything including all the various field events (shot put, turbo javelin, discus, long jump, high jump), hurdles, cross country, sprinting and race walking (see training times for more details).

The club also offers more specialist training options for juveniles as they get older with training groups that have a dedicated focus on Sprinting, Middle Distance & Cross-Country (see training times for more details).

Training Schedule

Junior, Senior and Masters Training

At MSB we have a thriving junior, senior and masters’ membership competing and training at all different levels. From the very competitive, who are chasing National medals on the track, in cross-country or on the road, to those who are looking for regular health and fitness training. There are three adult training groups within the senior and masters’ section and one performance junior/senior section within MSB to cater for all needs. The main adult groups include a fitness group, an intermediate training group and a performance group (see training times for more details).

All groups are extremely sociable and welcoming to any new members. All senior and masters’ members are invited to meet together for our MSB club run from White’s Gate in the Phoenix Park at 8am (early risers) and 9am (weekend sleepers).
